Villains We Want In The MCU

Villains We Want In The MCU

With 80 years of Marvel comic books, Marvel Studios has a deep well of characters and stories to draw from for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the ‘Multiverse Saga’ beginning, and Disney bringing home the Fantastic Four and X-Men franchises it’s interesting to speculate who’ll be terrorizing our heroes next. Here are eight picks when it comes to villains ripe for their debut in the MCU!

Doctor Doom

Where better to start than Victor Von Doom? Best known as a rival of the Fantastic Four, but a scourge against the Marvel Comics Universe as a whole, Doom is one of Marvel’s characters most in need of some justice on the big screen. With a Fantastic Four film on the way, it seems like Doom will make himself known any minute. There was even speculation he would pop up in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Magneto

Magneto on the other hand has been gifted with great actors but plagued with sub-par writing. He’s an incredibly versatile character who can play well as both a hero and villain depending on the story. It feels like Ryan Coogler would handle Magneto well, with how well-rounded and relatable the antagonists of both his Black Panther were. The X-Men as a whole is certainly overdue for a fresh take. It’s hard for anything to top how faithfully the animated series nailed the characters.

Mojo

With Disney+’s advent of the Special Presentation, it feels like a perfect time to sneak in a side story about Mojoworld. Either connected to the Multiverse or just a fun one-off short, Mojo would be a fun character to see in the MCU sandbox.

M.O.D.O.K.

M.O.D.O.K. is getting a lot of love right now, with both his own show on Hulu and an appearance in the Avengers video game. So much exposure to the general public seems like they’re testing the waters, or maybe warming us up for the weirdness of M.O.D.O.K. He’s an incredibly fun character, and for a long time, I never thought we’d see him on the big screen. But I said the same thing about Mysterio, and here we are! With strong speculation of him appearing in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, we may just get our wish sooner than we realize.

The Spot

A bit of a cheat, since he was just announced to make an appearance in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse. The Spot would fit right into the current phase of the MCU because of how quickly his powers can become a mind-bender. Between Mysterio’s illusions and whatever 4th-dimensional hijinks Kang has in store for us, The Spot might night be such a weird pull. His origins could be made to introduce the MCU’s crew to other dimensions like the Negative Zone. But maybe the upcoming Spider-Verse sequel will scratch that itch. Or make it worse…

Maestro

With the Multiverse wide open, it would be easy to sneak in an appearance of Maestro, the bad future Hulk. Multiverse shenanigans aside, Maestro could be used as a counterpoint to Smart Hulk’s current state for better or worse. The Multiverse Saga is probably the easiest and cleanest way to incorporate Maestro with the MCU as a whole since he’s both from the future and another timeline. Also, a great way to give some focus to who Bruce Banner is, and what he’s afraid of being. Ya know, outside of the usual Jekyll/Hyde stuff.

Rhino

On the reverse side of The Spot’s coin, it would be nice to see Spidey go up against a villain with pure brute strength as the advantage. Rhino is a regular member of Anti-Spider team-ups, and could nicely add some street-level destruction to the MCU’s NYC. Bonus points if he does it in the classic suit and not a robot rhino.

Super Skrull

With Secret Invasion and a Fantastic Four film on the way, we’ve gotta be getting close to more Skrulls in the near future. Depending on how the former plays out, maybe we’ll see some groundwork being laid for the Super Skrulls. It may be a little early for them, but they’d be a lot of fun to see in live-action.
