Less Than Jake is a ska-punk band from the city of Gainesville in the state of Florida. The band was formed in 1992 and continues to make music. Their 9th studio album, Silver Linings, was released in 2020. Less Than Jake has been on many record labels, including Capitol, Fueled By Ramen, and Fat Wreck Chords.

The band’s current lineup has Chris Demakes on guitar and vocals, Roger Lima on bass and vocals, Buddy Schaub on trombone. Peter Wasilewski on saxophone, and Matt Yonker on drums. Previous members include Vinnie Fiorello, Jessica Mills, Derron Nuhfer, and Pete Anna.

I have been lucky enough to have seen Less Than Jake a few times. The first time I saw them was when I was in 8th grade when they played with New Found Glory and Good Charlotte. I also saw them in high school with Reel Big Fish and Streetlight Manifesto. The last time I saw them was in college when they played with The Casualties and The Swellers.

Less Than Jake has been a band that I have been following for more than half of my life at this point.
