The Best Stone Sour Songs

Stone Sour are a heavy rock/metal group from Des Moines, Iowa. Although they officially formed in 1992, it was vocalist Corey Taylor’s popularity in masked nu-metal group Slipknot, eventual return to the band and signing their debut album to Roadrunner Records which saw them hit the mainstream metal consciousness.

Since then, they’ve gone from metal band to writing incredibly soulful ballads and, at times, pop driven hard rock tracks. These are our favorite Stone Sour tracks (in no particular order).

1. 30/30-150

30/30-150 is the first track on Stone Sour’s second album, Come What(ever) May, released in the year 2006. It’s a hard-hitting song that sets the scene for the entire Come What(ever) May album.

2. Bother

Bother is the eighth track on Stone Sour’s debut album, Stone Sour, released in the year 2002. It’s an acoustic track featuring a brand new type of song and style that had largely been unseen from vocalist Corey Taylor – thanks to his involvement with Slipknot. However, Bother is now considered to be a Stone Sour fan favourite and is an incredible acoustic ballad.

3. Say You’ll Haunt Me

Say You’ll Haunt Me is the fourth track on Stone Sour’s third album, Audio Secrecy, released in the year 2010. Say You’ll Haunt Me is one of my favourite Stone Sour tracks. To me, it’s a song about obsession and being unable to let go of the end of a relationship.

4. Through Glass

Through Glass is the eighth track on Stone Sour’s second album, Come What(ever) May, released in the year 2006. Through Glass is a track about being so in love that you’ll do anything to follow that person around. At least that’s the picture that Corey Taylor’s vocals illustrate. Another great ballad from an equally incredible band.

5. Hesitate

Hesitate is the eighth track on Stone Sour’s third album, Audio Secrecy, released in the year 2010. Hesitate is a ballad that with a hard hitting ballad, a soaring guitar solo and equally strong vocal performance. Chances are you’ll become as obsessed with this song as I am.

6. Made of Scars

Made of Scars is the fifth track on Stone Sour’s second album, Come What(ever) May, released in the year 2006. To me, Made of Scars is about the emotional scar tissue you build up over time when you’ve had your heart broken a few times.

7. Get Inside

Get Inside is the first track on Stone Sour’s debut album, Stone Sour, released in the year 2002. Thanks to Corey Taylor and Jim Root’s involvement in the masked nu-metal group, Get Inside is probably the most Slipknot sounding song on this entire album.

8. Digital (Did You Tell)

Digital is the third track on Stone Sour’s third album, Audio Secrecy, released in the year 2010. Digital is a perfect example of what happens when Stone Sour tries to write a poppy hard rock song.

9. Sillyworld

Sillyworld is the fourth track on Stone Sour’s second album, Come What(ever) May, released in the year 2006. Sillyworld is about becoming sick and tired of someone else’s drama – and breaking away from it.

10. Zzyzx Rd

Zzyzx Rd is the twelfth track on Stone Sour’second album, Come What(ever) May, released in the year 2006. Zzyzx Rd is a piano driven rock ballad about a man coming to terms with his own life and mortality.

11. Omega

Omega is the thirteenth track on Stone Sour’s debut album, Stone Sour, released in the year 2002. It’s a spoken word piece exclusively by Corey Taylor. Unfortunately, it’s the only of its kind across the entire discography.

12. Come What(ever) May

Come What(ever) May is the second track on Stone Sour’s second album, Come What(ever) May, released in the year 2006. Come What(ever) May is the title track and encompasses the entire style of the album it’s named after.
