Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Trailer

On Sunday, February 13 Marvel Studios revealed its brand new trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While the first trailer made its worldwide debut as the post-credit scene for Spider-Man: No Way Home, before being released online on December 22, this gives us an even stranger look into the upcoming comic book film.

Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is the sequel to Doctor Strange (2016) and the 28th film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film is directed by horror movie legend Sam Raimi and written by Jade Halley Bartlett and Michael Waldron. The Doctor Strange sequel stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Rachel McAdams.

Journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary. In the trailer, Doctor Strange is being haunted by the same disturbing dreams at night.

As if the universe is spiraling out of control, Doctor Strange wakes up once again. In the new film, Strange must live with the consequences of his actions and come to terms that he cannot alter anything he likes. We get glimpses of New York breaking apart, the Scarlet Witch meditating, and the return of Mordo.

Soon after Strange is arrested by what looks like Ultron bots and we hear a very familiar voice (one that sounds quite like Patrick Stewart). Will this finally connect the MCU to previous X-Men films? We get another look at evil Doctor Strange from the original teaser trailer then sequences of Wanda lamenting and Strange battling Shuma-Gorath. And to top it all off we see a zombified Strange to close out the trailer with a multitude of arms.

What can we say besides this new venture into the MCU looks like pure madness in the very best of ways. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled to be released in the United States on May 6, 2022, as part of Phase Four of the MCU.
