Five Nights At Freddy's Newspaper Clippings

About The FNAF 1 Newspaper Clippings

When Five Nights At Freddy’s was released in 2014, there was not a lot known about the story or lore. The first game in the series, while having some lore, does not really dive deep into the story. This makes sense as the series was most likely not planned out at this point.

That said, the newspaper easter eggs in Five Nights At Freddy’s does offer interesting bits of information that help set up the rest of the series. Today I want to go over the newspaper clippings from the first Five Nights At Freddy’s. Let me know your thoughts on social media!

FNAF 1 Newspapers - Kids vanish

Kids vanish at local pizzaria – bodies not found.

“Two local children were reportedly lured into a back room during the late hours of operation at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza on the night of June 26th. While video surveillance identified the man responsible and led to his capture the following morning, the children themselves were never found and presumed dead.

Police think that the suspect dressed as a company mascot to earn the children’s trust.” – Fnaf 1 Newspaper Clipping

This is the first time we hear about missing children. We also know that the suspect has been apprehended. There is not a lot to go on here. It could have been that series antagonist William Afton was captured and set free. The police could have also arrested the wrong person, such as Henry.

FNAF 1 Newspapers - Five Children

Five children now reported missing. Suspect convicted.

“Five children are now linked to the incident at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, where a man dressed as a cartoon mascot lured them into a back room.

While the suspect has been charged, the bodies themselves were never found.

Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza has been fighting an uphill battle ever since to convince families to return to the pizzeria.

‘It’s a tragedy.'” – Fnaf 1 Newspaper Clipping

There are five children in total, creating what we know as The Missing Children Incident. Like the first newspaper, this clipping also reinforces the idea that someone was luring children with one of the costumes. This is most likely William Afton in his classic Bonnie suit.

FNAF 1 Newspapers - Shutdown Over Sanitation

Local pizzeria threatened with shutdown over sanitation.

“Local pizzeria Freddy-Fazbear’s Pizza has been threatened again with shutdown by the health department over reports of foul odor coming from the much-loved animal mascots.

Police were contacted when parents reportedly noticed what appeared to be blood and mucus around the eyes and mouths of the mascots. One parent alikened them to ‘reanimated carcasses’.” – Fnaf 1 Newspaper Clipping

The animatronics are getting pretty smelly. At this point in the series, we have not seen Give Gifts/Give Life or any other visualizations of the missing children. The phrase ‘reanimated carcasses’ really hits home when you as the player know that the animatronics are haunted.

FNAF 1 Newspapers - Close By Years End

Local pizzeria said to close by year’s end.

“After a long struggle to stay in business after the tragedy that took place there many years ago, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza has announced that it will close by year’s end.

Despite a year-long search for a buyer, companies seem unwilling to be associated with the company.

‘These characters will live on. In the hearts of kids – these characters will live on.’ – CEO” – FNAF 1 Newspaper Clipping

The word has gotten around that children have gone missing at this location of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. This has very much damaged the company’s reputation. The CEO, who we can assume to be William Afton, makes a cryptic comment about the characters ‘living on’. We know that to be the truth after playing the original Five Nights At Freddy’s.
