Marvel X Fortnite Zero War Review

Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War

These days it seems that movies, shows, and video games heavily outweigh finding good reads, whether in books or graphic novels. Marvel takes a daring approach in its service Marvel Unlimited and allows users to read their catalog for a monthly subscription fee. They further push the envelope by collaborating with a game series, Fortnite, that has gone on for multiple seasons and is still extremely popular. Fortnite X Marvel explores the lore of the game and how it can incorporate so many current high-trending characters from multiple franchises.

For Marvel Unlimited, you can get a 7-day free trial and in doing so, I would implore you to take a look at this comic series. This is a must if you enjoy mainstay Marvel heroes or playing Fortnite. Fortnite x Marvel: Zero War #1 was published on June 8th, 2022. It is written by Christos Gage, penciled by Sergio Davita, and had its cover art done by Leinil Francis Yu.

Note: There are Marvel-branded skins available within Fortnite and exclusives from reading/ordering this particular comic book series.

From Zero to Infinity

Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War takes a good approach to explain several reasons for the intersections of the Fortnite reality and the Marvel universe. It does so without too much overkill during the fighting sequences. This comic book produces the idea that there is a way to stabilize the multiverse by acquiring more Marvel good guys and maybe…some for the not-so-good guys.

You get all the name drops you would expect, call-backs that reference Fortnite lore, and characters you can enjoy from both universes. My opinion is that if Stan was still around, he’d enjoy this direction of things.

If you are a comic book connoisseur and you just don’t have time at the moment to grab physical media, this is a terrific way to further make your screen time effective and introduce yourself to more Marvel storylines.

For those uninitiated into Fortnite, you will find yourself as a “Looper”. This means you are confined to a timeline in which you live and die, but the timeline repeats. You’re only “dead” for a short amount of time. However, in this series, they are looking to close that “loop”. Fortnite is a battle-royale-style game, and they incorporate aspects of the gameplay mechanics into their lore.

If we are to forecast how this goes based on issue 1, Fortnite X Marvel will be one with more damage than a car with a cowcatcher. It will create more dancing than a boogie bomb could force.  With that said, strap up your favorite skin or outfit, its time to prepare for war!
