‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ Sequel Confirmed For 2024
It has been reported via Deadline that Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have slated the upcoming (and untitled) ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ sequel for a March 15th, 2024 release with Adam Wingard returning as director. Up until now the upcoming fifth entry in the Godzilla/Kong Monsterverse was quietly announced in March 2022 and it was somewhat up in the air what it is. Now it seems Warner Bros. and Legendary are going full-steam on the Monsterverse after to surprise success of 2021’s ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is still unknown if the ‘Godzilla vs. Kong‘ sequel will be a true sequel to ‘Godzilla vs. Kong‘ with the two titular Titans crossing over again or a new solo film for the respective kaiju remains unclear. It has been hinted via Wingard that this could be a Kong-centric film as he has said one film he wanted to make within the Monsterverse is ‘Son of Kong‘ (a new interpretation of the sequel film of the same name for the 1933 King Kong).
Either way, it is a great time to be a Monsterverse and kaiju fan as it is clear Warner Bros., Legendary Pictures, and even Toho see the Monsterverse currently as a success and have so much more on the horizon. Not only do we have the upcoming ‘Godzilla vs. Kong‘ sequel but we are getting a Godzilla-centric Monarch series (title still unknown) hitting Apple TV+ sometime in the near future as well as a Netflix ‘Kong: Skull Island’ anime series from Powerhouse Animation, the same team behind the excellent Castlevania anime series also on Netflix.
