James Gunn And The Doctor Strange Leaks
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is about to be released this week and tensions across the internet are high. With the film’s plot centering around Doctor Strange tempering with the multiverse, fans are excited to see different variants of their favorite characters. Also, with the MCU being ever-expanding, we are excited to see what kinds of cameos are going to be seen in the new film.
While many of the cameos have been slowly shown through the use of trailers and television advertisements, more footage was leaked this week. We will not go over the leaks in this article, but a quick perusal of social media will get you whatever information you need. Director James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy, The Suicide Squad) tweeted a funny response to the leaks.
His post said “Who leaked this Dr Strange 2 footage? Not Cool.”, and contained a video attachment. The video showed footage of a play by Church of the Rock where the actors were dressed as Marvel characters. In the scene, Loki is preparing to hang Iron Man on a crucifix while R.E.M. and Chumbawumba play in the background. It is very easy to get mad about leaks, especially in a universe as big as the MCU. That said, productions this big are very difficult to keep under wraps.
The more popular the work, and the more employees working on it, the greater the chance for leaks. The giant size of the MCU productions ensures that there will always be some form of information leakage. On the other hand, I thought James Gunn’s reaction to the leaks was humorous and lighthearted. Instead of getting angry, he made a joke and shared a humorous video.
