Lucasfilm’s New Star Wars Video Game
On Tuesday, April 19, Skydance New Media confirmed that they will be heading a project with Lucasfilm. The action-adventure game will mark the second major initiative from Skydance New Media. Amy Hennig, President of Skydance New Media is known for her work on Naughty Dog titles such as Uncharted and Jak and Daxter. Since launching New Media in 2019, she’s enlisted a team of developers with years of experience in the action and adventure gaming worlds.
In late 2021, the studio announced a partnership with Marvel Entertainment to craft an all-new game with an original story and their unique take on beloved Marvel characters. It seems New Media is stepping further into the realm of Disney properties with their venture into Star Wars. The original Star Wars project is “a richly cinematic action-adventure game featuring an original story in the legendary Star Wars galaxy.” Hennig had this to say about the upcoming project:
“I’ve often described how seeing Star Wars in 1977 essentially rewired my 12-year-old brain, shaping my creative life and future indelibly… I’m elated to be working with Lucasfilm Games again to tell interactive stories in this galaxy that I love.”
Added Douglas Reilly, VP of Lucasfilm Games:
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to be working again with Amy. She and the Skydance New Media team have the talent and ambition to create a unique Star Wars adventure. Their vision for making inviting, cinematic interactive entertainment makes this collaboration very exciting. We’re working hard with their team of experienced and talented developers, and we’re looking forward to sharing more with Star Wars fans when the time is right.”
