About Van Wilder
Directed by Walt Becker, Van Wilder: Party Liaison is about the main character, Van Wilder, a seventh-year senior at Coolidge College who has become a legendary campus figure and a master of partying. When Van’s father stops paying his tuition, Van must come up with a way to pay for school and keep up his wild lifestyle.
The film follows Van as he navigates college life and tries to find a way to keep his party-boy reputation intact while also facing challenges such as falling in love, dealing with rival fraternities, and avoiding expulsion. The film is known for its raunchy humor and fast-paced, over-the-top antics, making it a popular choice for fans of college comedies.
I recently dug this DVD out of old box in my shed and put it on late at night whilst the wife was asleep and it had me LOLing so hard. It also made me think of other movies like Van Wilder so here’s this list. Enjoy!
1. Hole in One (2010)
Directed by Drew Ann Rosenberg and Mark Maine, Hole In One is a comedy starring Steve Talley, David Ellison, Dean Cameron and Christopher Showerman. It was released in the year 2010.
Hole In One is about a college student who is tricked by some surgeons who operate on him and give him a set of breasts. With a new set on display he has to try and win enough money in a goal tournament to reverse the surgery and get his set of norks removed altogether.
2. American Pie Presents: Girls’ Rules (2020)
Directed by Mike Elliott, American Pie Presents: Girls’ Rules is a comedy set within the American Pie franchise. It stars Madison Pettis, Lizze Broadway, Piper Curda, Natasha Behnam, Darren Barnet, Zachary Gordon, Barry Bostwick, Ed Quinn, Sara Rue and Danny Trejo. It was released in the year 2020.
American Pie Presents: Girls’ Rules is a standalone sequel which focuses on Stifler’s cousin, Stephanie, and her misadventures with her group of gal pals.

3. Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj (2006)
Directed by Mort Nathan, Val Wilder: The Rise of Taj stars Kal Penn. It was released in the year 2006 and is a sequel to Van Wilder: Party Laison.
Like the name suggests, Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj focuses on Van’s protege and friend, Taj, and his relocation to Camford University in England. There, he plans to make friends and become England’s very own Van Wilder.
4. Life of the Party (2018)
Directed by Ben Falcone and co-written by Falcone and Melissa McCarthy, Life of the Party is a comedy starring Melissa McCarthy, Gillian Jacobs, Maya Rudolph, Julie Bowen, Matt Walsh, Molly Gordon, Stephen Root and Jacki Weaver. It was released in the year 2018.
Life of the Party is about Melissa McCarthy’s character, Deanna, who is recently divorced and so becomes inspired to return to college and complete her degree. In doing so she ends up bonding with her daughter Maddie’s friends and becoming the absolute life of the party!
5. Neighbors (2014)
Directed by Nicholas Stoller, Neighbors is a comedy starring Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Rose Byrne, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Dave Franco. It was released in the year 2014.
Neighbors is about Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne’s characters Mac and Kelly who are starting to adjust to parenthood with a newborn and the epic battles that go down between them and a fraternity called “Delta Psi Beta” who moves in next door.
6. Van Wilder: Freshman Year (2009)
Directed by Harvey Glazer, Van Wilder: Freshman Year is the second film in the Van Wilder film series. It stars Jonathan Bennett, Kristin Cavallari, Jerry Shea, Steve Talley, Rick Calk and Ryan Stratis. It was released in the year 2009.
Van Wilder: Freshman Year is a prequel which tells the origin story of Van Wilder as a freshman at Coolidge College and how he becomes a suave and cool operator in the ways of college party planning.
7. Road Trip: Beer Pong (2009)
Directed by Steve Rash, Road Trip: Beer Pong (or, Road Trip 2) is a sequel in the Road Trip franchise starring Preston Jones, Michael Trotter, Nestor Aaron Absera, Danny Pudi and Julianna Guill. It was released in the year 2009.
Road Trip: Beer Pong is about Preston Jones’ character Andy who worries about being apart from his girlfriend, Katy, while he’s at college. Urged by his friends to not worry about her, Andy runs into an old girlfriend and now Beer Pong model, Jenna, who he lusts after. So Andy and his friends decide to go on a road trip following Jenna and her model friends around the country. But things get more complicated when Katy switches colleges to be closer to Andy.

8. Blockers (2018)
Directed by Kay Cannon, Blockers is a sex comedy starring Leslie Mann, Ike Barinholtz, John Cena, Kathryn Newton, Geraldine Viswanathan, Gideon Adlon, Graham Phillips, Miles Robbins, Colton Dunn, Sarayu Blue, Gary Cole, Gina Gershon, June Diane Raphael and Hannibal Buress. It was released in the year 2018.
Blockers is about two sets of parents who will do anything they can to stop their two teenage daughters from losing their virginity at prom. And I mean anything!
9. Fired Up! (2009)
Directed by Will Gluck, Fired Up! is a sex comedy starring Nicholas D’Agosto, Eric Christian Olsen, Sarah Roemer, Molly Sims, Danneel Harris, Adhir Kalyan, AnnaLynne McCord, Philip Baker Hall and John Michael Higgins. It was released in the year 2009.
Fired Up! is about two star high school football players who decide to attend a cheerleading camp to try and score with its 300 female cheerleaders. Unfortunately, for the two footballers, things are never that easy – and neither are cheerleaders.
10. Old School (2003)
Directed and co-written by Todd Phillips, Old School is a black comedy starring Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughn and Will Ferrell. It was released in the year 2003.
Old School is about a trio of depressed men who are having a mid life crisis in their thirties. Figuring out the only answer is by re-starting their old college fraternity they get into all sorts of mishaps before finally facing up to the changes in life.
11. Waiting… (2005)
Directed and written by Rob McKittrick, Waiting… is a comedy starring Ryan Reynolds, Anna Faris, Justin Long, David Koechner, John Francis Daley, Kaitlin Doubleday, Alanna Ubach, Chi McBride and Luis Guzmán. It was released in the year 2005.
Waiting… is about Ryan Reynolds’ character, Dean, who works at a restaurant called Shenaniganz. The movie’s events take place during the course of one day and follow the crazy events that happen to Dean and his fellow staff.
12. American Pie: Beta House (2007)
Directed by Andrew Waller, American Pie: Beta House is a sex comedy spin-off set within the American Pie franchise. It starred John White, Steve Talley, Christopher McDonald and Eugene Levy. It was released in the year 2007.
American Pie: Beta House follows John White’s character, Erik Stifler, a college freshman in Beta House fraternity which is run by his cousin Dwight Stifler. Both of which are related to Steve Stifler (from the original American Pie films). In a mix of booze, sex and coming of age adventures, Erik gradually gets closer to knowing what he wants out of college and life as a whole.
13. 21 & Over (2013)
Directed and written by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, 21 & Over is a comedy starring Miles Teller, Skylar Astin, Justin Chon and Sarah Wright. It was released in the year 2013.
21 & Over follows a group of friends who go out to celebrate a 21st February regardless of the fact that one of them has a very important interview to a prestigious medical school.
14. Extreme Movie (2008)
Directed by Adam Jay Epstein and Andrew Jacobson, Extreme Movie is a comedy starring Michael Cera, Ryan Pinkston, Jamie Kennedy, Chris Cooper, Frankie Muniz, and Matthew Lillard. It was released in the year 2008.
Extreme Movie is a satirical sex comedy movie much in the same vein as Not Another Teen Movie and Scary Movie. It involves a Sex Education Teacher who shares a little too much, a vibrating vagina which has its own personality, time travel – and that’s just to start with.
15. Accepted (2006)
Directed by Steve Pink, Accepted is a comedy starring Justin Long, Blake Lively, Anthony Heald and Lewis Black. It was released in the year 2006.
Accepted is about a group of recently graduated high schoolers who fake their own college because they fail to get into any real ones. However, they soon learn that it’s hard to keep a college running – even a fake one.
