Texas Chainsaw Massacre Trailer 2022
On Monday, Netflix released the first trailer for its Texas Chainsaw Massacre adaptation. Little information about the slasher sequel has surfaced until now. After nearly fifty years of hiding, Leatherface returns to terrorize a group of idealistic young friends who accidentally disrupt his carefully shielded world in a remote Texas town.
From what we can gather, young people across the United States are fleeing their overpriced neighborhoods and finding their way to more affordable areas. As they do, unimaginable horrors await them. The upcoming slasher film is directed by David Blue Garcia, with the screenplay by Chris Thomas Devlin. From what we understand the film is a sequel to the original The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) as we see the film’s original ‘Final Girl’ return. Olwen Fouéré portrays Sally Hardesty in the new film.

Sally was one of the only survivors of Leatherface from the original film so it’s a major moment for horror movie fans to see her character return. Sally was previously portrayed by Marilyn Burns in the original film, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation, and archive footage in Texas Chainsaw 3D. Burns unfortunately passed away in 2014, so the character of Sally Hardesty was recast.
Like Halloween (2018), Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021), Scream (2022), Jurassic World (2015), and so on it looks like Legendary Pictures is retroactively canning the sequels by making their new version a direct sequel to Tobe Hooper’s original movie. Without much publicity from Netflix, we’re interested to see where the franchise can go in 2022. Texas Chainsaw Massacre hits Netflix on February 18th, 2022.
