Nimona Coming To Netflix In 2023
An animated film based on the award-winning graphic novel Nimona is coming to Netflix in 2023. We are happy to see this project back into production after long delays from the property’s time at Century Fox Animation and Disney.
The film will be directed by Nick Bruno and Troy Quane, and produced by Roy Lee, Karen Ryan, and Julie Zackary. Nimona will star Chloe Grace Moretz as Nimona, Riz Ahmed as Ballister Boldheart, and Eugene Lee Yang as Ambrosius Goldenloin. The animation will be by DNEG Animation. The film is produced by Netflix and Annapurna Pictures.

Nimona’s always been a spunky little story that just wouldn’t stop. She’s a fighter…but she’s also got some really awesome people fighting for her. I am excited out of my mind to announce that THE NIMONA MOVIE IS ALIVE…coming at you in 2023 from Annapurna and Netflix 🤘 pic.twitter.com/wEZuM2sXTt

The story of Nimona is described by Netflix as:
“A Knight is framed for a crime he didn’t commit and the only person who can help him prove his innocence is Nimona, a shape-shifting teen who might also be a monster he’s sworn to kill. Set in a techno-medieval world unlike anything animation has tackled before, this is a story about the labels we assign to people and the shapeshifter who refuses to be defined by anyone.”
Nimona is based on a graphic novel by ND Stevenson. It started off as a Tumblr webcomic and evolved into a full-fledged graphic novel. The full series was published by HarperCollins in 2015. The series has won a variety of awards, including an Eisner and a Cartoonist Studio Prize.
