Pringles Scorchin Flavors Review

Pringles Scorchin’ Review

When we’re not needing caffeine to get us through the day, our brain and body demand we turn to something to graze upon.  Ah, the livestock of the workforce – glorious!  Although entirely unhealthy and empty for consumption, potato chips/crisps are arguably one of America’s mainstay snacks. They come in so many flavorings and textures and are easily as diverse as they are addictive.

One way to enjoy them is in the sleeve, by way of Pringles. Yes, that potato chip-slinging silo that you can get at the grocery store continues to be too small for us to get our hands into. This causes us to tilt and spill those chips and their splinterings all over the place. I’ll take this as a sign to do better and be healthier, but that’s just my take.

That aside, Pringles does big work with their flavors and making sure you struggle to not eat the whole thing in one sitting. For that, we thank you.

One of Pringle’s movements for flavor is to go a spicier direction, and they released the Pringles Scorchin’ line. This series even features three flavors curated by the Hot Ones YouTube show. That said, we will not be reviewing the Hot Ones Pringles today. We are going to focus on the basic flavors of BBQ, Cheddar, and Sour Cream and Onion. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of kick these potato chips have, perhaps it is signaling that we are making a move into the spicier and more seasoned territory.

Nutritional Facts

Fortunately, I already told you that potato chips aren’t necessarily great for you, especially in the way they are consumed by the handfuls. However, I will give you the looking glass into their nutritional facts. For each of these chips, a serving size is 14 chips and there are 6 servings per container.

In one serving you will find 150 Calories, 9g total fats, 2.5g saturated fats, 0g trans fats, 0mg Cholesterol, between 160mg and 190mg of sodium (depending on the flavor), <1g dietary fiber, 1g total sugars, 0g added sugars, and1g protein,

Let’s take a look at these flavors, individually.

Pringles Scorchin BBQ

Pringles Scorchin’ BBQ

When it comes to Pringle’s Scorchin’ BBQ, it hits a terrific equilibrium between sweet and heat. When we get BBQ chips, we’re usually getting some chips that look reddish/orange all the way through. These are not those chips. They do have a light powdering of flavor on them but are mostly clean chips with the crunch a chip needs.  As for the flavoring, imagine if you will, you’re going to get sweet North Carolina barbecue, and right as you get that sauce ready you throw a little cayenne pepper in there to balance the batch.

Pringles Scorchin Cheddar

Pringles Scorchin’ Cheddar

Cheese, potato chips’ best friend in the flavor department, finally finds a little pepper jack to keep the tongue guessing. When it comes to cheddar chips, you’re usually looking at a heavily dusted, golden-yellow potato chip that paints your hands. These chips, like the BBQ, are set in a similar way looking very much plain except for the red dusting. When it comes to cheddar we like to relive the taste that we find on a really greasy cheeseburger and we get a jalapeno kick to go with it? Chef’s kiss.  Pringles Scorchin’ Cheddar offers a far less greasy substitute for that flavor interaction with ample amounts of cheddar in the mix.

Pringles Scorchin Sour Cream And Onion

Pringles Scorchin’ Sour Cream and Onion

For me, sour cream and onion is a chip flavor that was a favorite all throughout my childhood. It was tier one until my introduction to salt and vinegar. However, it still remains a top-five chip. Sour cream and onion on chips or in baked potatoes really let the potato go off in a savory way. This flavor pairs well with most lunchtime meals.  I will say, for Pringles Scorchin’ Sour Cream and Onion, it appears they decided to take the volume of the heat up a degree or two. That said, it is not overwhelming. Blending a savory flavor with a little kick makes for a great potato chip.

Have You Tried Pringles Scorchin’ Flavors?

These are some of the best pringles if you are a capsaicin junkie (like many of us at PHASR are). There’s just something that tastes right about our tongue getting into a fistfight with spicy foods. I will definitely be getting these again unless I find a superior chip in heat delivery.

We hope you enjoyed our review of Pringles Scorchin’ flavors. Have you tried these stackable potato chips? Let us know on social media!
