Rick and Morty Anime Coming To Adult Swim
On Wednesday, May 18th, Deadline announced that an anime of Rick and Morty is coming to Adult Swim. Titled Rick and Morty: The Anime, the 10-episode adventure will be its entirely unique property. Separate from the flagship series, the anime will adapt themes and events from the original show. The upcoming anime will mark yet another Rick and Morty venture for Takashi Sano, who previously directed two anime shorts, “Rick and Morty vs. Genocider” and “Summer Meets God (Rick Meets Evil)”.
Adult Swim revealed the series was officially greenlit for Rick and Morty: The Anime from Tower of God helmer Takashi Sano. The series orders come as Adult Swim continues to build its anime portfolio, which currently includes the series adaptation of Junji Ito’s Uzumaki, Blade Runner: Black Lotus, and more. The newly-ordered series is in production and will premiere on Adult Swim and HBO Max.

The original Rick and Morty is an American adult animated sci-fi comedy created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon for Cartoon Network’s nighttime program block Adult Swim. The series follows the misadventures of cynical mad scientist Rick Sanchez and his good-hearted, but fretful grandson Morty Smith, who split their time between domestic life and interdimensional adventures.
