Silver Surfer Season 1, Episode 11: Recap
Well, we certainly start big. First we have a whole lot of Kree ships pouring out of a bunch of portals, then those close and a way bigger one opens for an enormous Kreeship. Why didn’t they all come out of one? I’m just going to assume they were coming from all over the place, it makes no tactical sense but saves me thinking about it too long.
Seems that they’ve arrived to take the planet Karrades, which their ancestors failed to take and most of the crew seemed shocked by. Also, a lot of facial hair on these Kree that just feels weird for some reason. General Ko-Val, who has more facial hair than everyone else suggesting some kind of facial hair based hierarchy, declares that he will take the planet for the Supremor.
A ‘level-ten spatial anomaly’ appears, a swirling vortex of colour that grabs the main Kee ship with tentacles and drags it in before vanishing. We then watch Surfer force his way past Kree forces as Prime Minister Zarek and a Kree commander called Edokk discuss the general’s disappearance. The Kree are given a rather snarky warning about Surfer’s incursion.
Surfer somehow manages to transmit video and audio of himself down to the Kree capital of Kree-Lar, claiming his reason for being there is personal. Zarek believes him real fast and without question, stopping the Kree defences and inviting him down.
Silver Surfer explains that he has long heard of the Kree Supreme Intelligence’s wisdom, and wishes to gain some. Zarek is a bit startled by that, since the Supremor is their ruler. Surfer explains he only wants to find Zenn-La, and Zarek agrees so long as Surfer can go find out what happened to Ko-Val first and give him an analytical belt for them to get data.
The anomaly appears before him and tries to snatch him as well, and he sense the power of a star system inside. So he blasts it a bit and flies on in.
He finds himself in a strange space before a whole heap of ships appear, many of them evidently antique but in new condition. A figure arrives and starts blasting Kree ships, revealing himself to be the defender of Karrades named Adam Warlock. When asked what side he’s on Surfer proclaims no side in this fight, but then the Kree fire at them and he immediately drops that and sides with Warlock.
They fight for a bit, then Surfer stops to ask what is going on and Warlock is quick to point out it isn’t the time for it. Warlock fights on but Surfer can’t help but get lost in his own thoughts, questioning what is happening and why the Kree forces vanish completely when defeated. They appear victorious, only for the ships to return and the battle to play out again. Warlock even seems to have reset his memories, no longer remembering the battle or Surfer.
Surfer decides he needs to get Warlock out of there, so tricks him into thinking the Kree have landed on Karrades and he is needed on the planet. They fight their way out and Warlock is confused, as Surfer explains he was trapped in a time anomaly. Warlock then speeds to his homeworld to find it in ruins and breaks down in despair.
Warlock then recalls how his people defied the Kree, so created him to defend them. But he recalls nothing beyond that. Surfer is certain that Warlock indeed did save his planet from the Kree, but that only raises questions about why it is in ruins. So Surfer takes Warlock to Kree-Lar, which will absolutely go well.

Silver Surfer Season 1, Episode 11: Review
I greatly enjoyed this episode after I wasn’t as keen on the last one. We do largely get Silver Surfer by himself, aside from his few interactions with Zarek and Warlock, but we manage to avoid his usual angst-heavy internal thoughts this time as he keeps his mind focused on the task. I do wonder what Surfer’s plan was after he blasted past Kree forces, since he surely knew he wouldn’t likely get to see the Supreme Intelligence after that. It worked out for him, but only because General Ko-Val went missing.
The pacing in this episode was strong again, there wasn’t any weird asides or wasted time. Warlock was also a strong guest character, conveniently placed away to possibly be used again without having a powerful warrior wandering the galaxy. He also did act as a nice reflection for Surfer, both people from peaceful worlds that were forced to become warriors to save them (even if details vary quite a bit).
My only real issue was that this whole episode was very much a side point. Surfer’s driving motivation going in was his quest to find Zenn-La, and information to help it that was promised multiple times only for it all to amount to nothing. Everything is as it was at the start, even with all those Kree still trapped in the time loop to be killed by Warlock again and again. It could be argued Surfer leaves the episode with renewed motivation, but in my opinion he was already motivated well enough to nothing is achieved throughout the episode.
