Sweet Heart #4 Review
Sweet Heart #4 starts off with a bang! Who is this bloody hooded figure we see on the cover? I won’t spoil it here, but I can tell you Maddie’s story is starting to come full-circle.
One of my favorite aspects of this series is how it depicts the way people treat each other’s medical conditions. If you are this far into the series already, you know that Sweet Heart, and the monsters in it, are a metaphor for diabetes. Both type 1 and type 2 diabetes are treated differently in our society. People also have varying opinions about those suffering from obesity. This is an important subject that I am glad Sweet Heart tackles.
This issue contains a new development in the lore of the monsters. We get to see how far they will go to get their precious glucose-ridden humans. It is really a sight to see. As you all know, I am a sucker for mysterious lore in stories. This issue of Sweet Heart really scratched that itch for me.
This issue ends on an insane cliffhanger. I know I said Sweet Heart #1 was scary, but this issue may take the cake! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. With one issue left after this, we are really seeing the plot go into full swing.
