TTDTE On The Tony Danza Show
The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza is one of my favorite mathy, grindy, post-hardcore bands. Even though they broke up ten years ago, they are still a band that I listen to regularly.
I have always wondered if Tony Danza himself has heard of the band, or has had any interaction with the band. I have heard stories online about elderly people showing up at gigs thinking they are going to see the real Tony Danza.
I did some digging and I was able to find a clip on YouTube from a 2005 episode of The Tony Danza Show. During a segment where Tony reads fan mail, someone asked if he had heard of The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza. They even played a portion of a song live on the show.
While Tony Danza did not seem super impressed with the band’s sound, he was a good sport about the whole thing. He made a joke about humming the song all day. While these songs get stuck in our heads, fans of grindcore and mathcore will know that the genre’s chaotic and time-signature-bending style is difficult to hum.
