Vampironica #4 Review

First off, I think this may be my favorite non-variant cover of the series so far. Veronica looks awesome as part of the blood moon. I also love the imagery of Betty holding a battle axe. I bet I will never see that happen again.

Fighting vampires is a lot easier when you realize you can just buy holy water. Veronica’s shopping-focused mind comes in handy again. The issue starts with the crew rolling up to Cheryl Blossom’s party equipped with stakes, crosses, and squirt guns filled with blessed water.

I really loved how different Archie characters were already turned into vampires. It was a nice way to show all the other minor characters of the Archie universe. Everyone from Riverdale High was in attendance, and they all met different fates.

There is nothing funnier than watching Jughead take down a vampire with a piece of garlic bread. It is always about food with this guy! That said, I am glad Jughead was spared in Vampironica. I can’t say the same for the other Archie Horror series.

Dilton is a genius for realizing that he could just fill Cheryl’s pool with holy water. That said, I wouldn’t want to be in a pool filled with my classmates and smoldering vampire corpses. That can’t be healthy for anyone.

My favorite panel is when they reveal that Moose has turned into a vampire. Out of all of the characters to become a monster, Moose is the scariest in my opinion. He is big, strong, and very susceptible to mind control and manipulation. The panels featuring this brought me thoughts of other giant human monsters in comics, such as Solomon Grundy. Speaking of, where is Mrs. Grundy in all of this?

The end of this issue has an insane twist that I won’t reveal here. You will just have to read to find out!

With Ivan taken care of, and the Riverdale students safe in the pool, it is time for Veronica to end this nightmare once and for all. I can’t wait to see what happens in issue 5! I have been having a blast reading and reviewing this series and don’t want to see it come to an end. However, we must press on and keep reading.
